Each nation at the University of Helsinki has its own inspector. The inspector is a professor appointed by the university and elected by the nation, whose task is to support and monitor the nation’s activities and to act as a liaison between the university and the nation. In fact, the origin of the nations system was in the desire of the decision-makers to place the ”wild” student youth of the Academy of Turku under the supervisory eyes of the professors.
