Have you just moved to Helsinki and started your studies? Are you looking for interdisciplinary closing parties for the orientation week? Or perhaps you have already completed several years of studies, but would like to try something new? Do you miss the nation life and would like to say hi to your friends across different nations?
Welcome to Nations on Display! Student nations are interdisciplinary student communities that bring together students from fields and organise a wide range of activities, such as parties, sports, festivals, cultural events and recreational activities. They also provide support to their members in the form of housing and scholarships, for example.
Whether you study the arts, physics, law or medicine, you are warmly welcome to be part of the action! Many nations also include students from Aalto University, Metropolia, Arcada, Hanken, Diak and Haaga-Helia, for example.
A particular feature is that the nations are divided by the Finnish regions. However, you can join even if you have no ties to the ancestral area. Now all the nations introduce themselves together on Saturday, 31 August 2024 from 14 to 18.
The event takes place on the sand pitch in Hesperia Park (see detailed coordinates above). The free open-air event gives you the chance to walk around the nations’ stands and see what they are up to. You can come alone or with friends at any time to freely roam around the stands. Should you join Vasa nation, or perhaps Savolainen osakunta, Nylands Nation, or why not Satakuntalainen osakunta? Come and find out where you belong!
It’s also worth coming to the Fresher Disco at Botta next Monday!
Nations’ afterparties
- Satakuntalainen Osakunta is organising the season opener and an after-party at the nation’s premises in Viisi, Satakuntatalo (Lapinrinne 1 A, 5th floor) starting at 18:00. The event is free, but it’s a good idea to bring a small amount of cash. Ask for more information at the SatO tent!
- The Ostrobothnian nations (EPO, VN and PPO) are hosting a joint after-party at Botta (Töölönkatu 3 A, 5th floor). Ask for more information at their stands!

Event safety
The order and safety of the event are managed by the CDSN board together with the nations’ fresher and tutor coordinators. In the case of any harassment incidents or issues, you can contact the CDSN harassment contact persons by filling the online harrassment contact form (available in Finnish and Swedish)
Accessibility
The event is held in a public outdoor space. The public toilet in Hesperia Park is located next to the pitch and is suitable for wheelchair users.
